Biography

Riad Sattouf is a comic book author and movie director, born in 1978.
His best-selling series are The Arab of the futur (Allary Éditions), 3.5 million copies sold, and Esther's Notebooks (Allary Éditions), 950 000 copies sold and The young actor (Les Livres du futur).
Winner of numerous international prizes (Los Angeles Times Graphic Novel Prize, Prize for Excellence at the Japan Media Arts Festival, Max and Moritz Prize), he is one of the rare authors to have twice won the Fauve d'or du best album at the Angoulême festival, in 2010 and 2015.
He has directed two feature films: The French kissers (2009), César for best first film, and Jacky in the Kingdom of Women (2014).

In 2023, he received the most prestigious prize in international comics, awarded by his peers: the Grand Prix of the Angoulême festival.
